Can CYS Take My Children Away?

Yes. If there has been an allegation against you or someone in your household, that a child in your case has been abused, CYS will begin an investigation. If throughout that investigation they find an indication of abuse, CYS can petition the court to remove your children from the home. There will be a hearing in which time both parties will present evidence as to why they believe that your child should no longer be living with you in the home. The judge will evaluate the evidence and come to a decision on where the child should live.
